Holy Cows and Burning Meteorites...

OMC Guess what, peeps.  I...Just...Got...BRACES!!!!  I didn't know i was getting them today-- I only just had a consultation with the ortho- man (what do I call him?  not dentist, surely...) yesterday, and what do you know, i get off the bus and my mom is waiting for me to whisk me away to get some braces.  So I'm sort of excited, if you believe that.  I mean,  no more crooked teeth!  (Soon, at least.)  Also, no more hard candy, sugar gum, pretzels... but i can live with that.  I mean, its probably better for my health anyways.  But all i keep thinking is, "gosh dang it, I ate my last laffy taffy today, and i won't get to again for a year and a half!" (I guess i can thank TJ for lending me his quarters for it.  You can tell him that if you want, whoever reads this, I don't really care.) Anyways... nothing to do, too afraid to eat anything lest it get stuck in my new metal-- even though i am practically RAVENOUS and have been since yesterday night, i will live until dinner.  Ok... So... Kyra is OUT-- LIVE LONG AND PROSPER.  (and eat your vegetables, too, it'll help with the 'live long' part.)

Back to School... Or the End of Summer.

Yeah.  Right.  As if teens willingly give up the freedom of summer months for school.  I don't.  My friends don't.  But do you know what is strange?  we spend all summer dreading the return of school, (and the return of you-know-who's math classes) yet we also anticipate the day when we finally get out schedules... and then its like, "What do you have for fourth period?  Did you get into theater?  Which teacher do you have for english?  Ooohh, that's a boring class," and so on and so forth.  weird, huh? totally lame, but what can i say?  we're just teens!

Epic Plan update

I have recently updated my Epic Plan page to include all my reading I've been doing lately... but i've been prevented from posting it because of a computer monopolization by my brother... so please, check it out! I'm almost done with the series... I am astounded I managed it in this fast of a time! Oh well... good things never last. (and Harry Potter is the bestest good thing I know of!)(excuse the bad grammar there.)

The Epic Plan

WARNING:
Before you begin- this post is gonna be all about Harry Potter.  So if you think it is boring or stuipid (not only are you mad)but save me the derogatory comments on how much you hate it, please.  (though comments on how much you love it are accepted.)

So here is my epic plan:
With the result of a disastrous library visit in which i only found ONE (count em, 1) book, and in which my mom saw fit to yell at me for the fact, i now have a chronic shortness of new books.  So decided that i would make do with the large bookshelf i had at home and reread some books!  And i have decided that the series that can keep me occupied the longest will be the one i will read... and i only have one book series that is seven books long.  and that it HARRY POTTER!!!!  YES!!!!  Even though ive probably read 1-5 about five times each, and 6-7 maybe three times each, im gonna give it another go.  so now my whole summer will be devoted to reading harry potter!  well maybe not my whole summer, i read too fast for them to last that long.  Now all in all, this is not a very epic plan.  heres where the epic-ness comes in.  (though when i think about it, YOU might not think it so epic, but to ME it is so very epic.)
when i finish reading a book, i will watch the corresponding movie, and hopefully by the time i finish the seventh book once more the first part of the seventh movie will be out and then i can watch it!!!
ok, ok.  not so epic.  ive come to realize that.  but you could say its... halfway epic?  oh well.  the name is going to stick.  there is only one flaw with this plan.  it will not take me the whole summer (and part of the new school year) to read all the books.  so ill likely finish DH (deathly hallows) in august, and have to wait two months for the  movie.  oh well.  alls well that ends well... which it will!  in a movie!
soo... i will also be chronicling (is that how you spell that?) my progress through the books on a NEW PAGE titled THE EPIC PLAN!!!!!  please check it out peeps... im outta here!

School's out, scream and shout! (Cringe. High school musical sucks.)

So, FINALLY, school is over!  i am so happy.  yesterday was the last day, and i didn't even go.  it was so stupid- school only lasted for two hours, no one took roll, and all you did was sign yearbooks.  (which we had two hours to do already on wednesday!!)  So what does that mean now?  SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER!  SCHOOLS OUT FOREVER!! well, not really, actually those were the words to a song, but you get my meaning.  OOHH! one more thing- im going to go to the library today!  So fun!  but you know what is not fun?  first i have to weed in my yard (ugh) and then take a two mile bike ride down (and then back UP) this huge hill. Not fun. oh well, ill get through it.  ☺☻♥♦♣♠☺♪♫☼‼¶§
hey check out my cool emoticon thingies up there- awesome, huh?  Who's jealous?  everybody.

The End... (of the school year)

Just a month ago, I felt like school had hardly started.  Now, it is like, "when can i get the heck out of here!!!????"  I guess its the combo of end of levels being taken and over with, teachers not giving you any homework anymore, (except certain evil algebra teachers.  I won't name names.  Gosh, I hope my algebra teacher isn't reading this... I really want to keep my A.) and the approach of the end of May, which really all puts things into perspective.  that is, the perspective where I see school as an evil thing which keeps me from spending all day alternately reading, in the library, or watching Star Trek.  Or maybe all of them at once.  Take your pick.  And one more thing.  I am really rushing to get through the Maximum Ride series, which my friend Mishka has begged me to pick up but I never did.  Now, I have, perhaps out of total lack of other reading material. (I finished off the Naming series, which describing as 'awesome' would be an understatement.  May have already told you this, but my memory fails me for things like that.)  I find that it is very witty and cheek-in-tongue, which i like, and which makes me laugh out loud.  books that get me to do that always get a 'fave'rating from me.  I'm not saying its a very thought provoking or deep read (not to brag, though i am, [what are blogs for?] i finished the first three books in four days,) and the plot could be a bit more involving, it takes you for a bit of a thrill ride with lots of well written action. (which i like just as much in books as in movies, as long as i can understand what the heck is going on)  Wait.. there was a thread of thought i lost in my review of the maximum ride books... wait for it.. oh! yes.  im rushing to get through them, because the school library effectively closes up on monday of next week, and i have no idea when or if my mom can get me to the public one.  Though i have told her, in no uncertain terms, i expect to be taken their at a MINIMUM of five times a week.  Im being fair and giving her the weekends off.  Anyways, this post is getting long winded as it is (though not as long as some of my other beauties... boy, can I babble!  though it is good babble.) i will end the post and say that curiously i used a lot of these ( ) parentheses in my type... maybe because im having alot of side thoughts... signs of ADD?  I don't think so!  OOh, a squirrel! JK.  (and yes, i spelled squirrel right.  Bet you couldn't do it.  It's harder than you think.) so to all you teens reading this, happy summer vacation, and i hope you get through as many books as i plan to...  (which will be half the library if my mom sticks to her schedule, i can assure you.) Signing off!

Wind and Kickball

Its really windy outside right now.  Just something I've noticed.  But I have a question... does anyone know what causes wind?  Its something I had plenty of time to ponder during my (infinetely boring) kickball game in gym today.  Its like, you kick the ball, and then you run.  Simple, right?  And sometimes fun!  But not when the only people on your team actually playing are the wierdo preps who scream and yell 'lets go!' then try and do homeruns even when they're already out.  The best highlight of a kickball game I've ever witnessed was when a certain idiot named... oh, i cant name names on the internet, so we'll call him the "Wierdo", got slammed in the stomach head-on with a kickball some prep girl he was pitching to kicked... it was hilarious, especially the part where he rolled around on the ground in fake (im assuming) agony...oh, crap, now ive lost my train of thought. oh yes.  Wind. What makes it.  If anyone finds out, put it in a comment and post it, ok? cus im curious.

Facelift

No, i have not had a makeover, but my blog has.  it looks AWESOME now!! i especiallly like the new picture of the owl next to this post that i have found; it is absolutely froody.  and i have finally decided what to do with my new "page", if you haven't noticed i've titled it "the universe is a froody place" and i will take aprils advice and post observations of the world on it!  i'm pretty excited to get started, only one problem... i don't have any observations.
cricket.
oh well, im sure i'll think of something in a semi lucid moment that when i post it will read like i typed it when i was drunk or something, but oh well.

What boredom drives me to do...

Ok. Here it goes, another long ramble about what I am doing. But isn't that what blogs are for?
ok, so i was pretty excited and well entertained this morning, because two of my favorite Star Trek episodes were on and i watched them, and then right after they were over Confessions of a Shopoholic came on, and i was like, AWESOME, and i watched it tilll lunch. then AFTER lunch, i had nothing to do, so i decided to read my book, and heres the problem with that. Normally, there would be no problem, as i love to read. But here's where the problem-ish stuff makes its entrance.
1: the book i am reading is hopelessly short;
2:also hopelessly good..
3: so therefore, it is hopeless to think i will spend more than a day reading it because its so hopelessly good i just want to read it all in one sitting. and it is only friday, which leaves me three days until we get back to school ( oh my god, i actually had to think about that for a moment, that really shows my propensity for math there) and i can get the next book at the library. So. Not that anyone particularly CARES, but there you are. and i think ill go on about it for a bit more...
so you guys know i have an ereader, if you read my christmas post a few months ago, (or if i told you), and you should also know it is the awesomest piece of tech since the TV. in two minutes, you can find a book, purchase it, (for less than youd pay for the non digital version, i might add) and then you can read it! presto- changeo, instant boredom cure! now, you see, theres a problem with that too. its this... if the book you down load onto it isnt a substantially long book... well, then, you finish it in a day and you have to download more books. Wow.
you know, i only started the books in this problematic series because it was on my list for books i could do for my book report, and since i opted to do that the first day we got back from break (banging my head against the wall in remembrance of that brainless move) i had to already own the book to read it in time. And then when i finished it, i remembered why i had bought it in the first place, because despite the fact it reads like it was written for people way below my readinig level, which it was, (that was a bit of shameless bragging there, ill admit) it still has an awesome story line. And we come back full circle to wanting to read the sequel and totally not being able to. WHY am i telling you this? well, the attempt to stay away from my book and not finish up the 20 or so pages left in it, and therefore trying fruitlessly to prolong my enviable status of having a book to read, has made me divert myself to this. and in a few minutes, when i log off, ill just go back to reading again... ugh. if i knew the emoticon for frustration, id insert it here.
ps im eating this hideous orange gum that is only good for the first few minutes you chew it, and the nearest garbage can is all the way out in the kitchen, so i cant spit it out because i am woefully loathe to get up...ugh. ridiculous.

Some rambles about "The Alamo"

ok- so like everyone knows, all the history clases are watching "The Alamo". I know at least two people who finished it and want to tell me the ending. But guess what? on account of a shortened schedule last b day, i didn't get to finish it. lets ask the obvious question here. Am i mad? Yes! so i am reduced to waiting all through the week long spring vacation, plus two more days, to see the end of it. So this morning, during one of my computer sessions where i was facing the screen with a blank look on my face doing absolutely nothing, i figured, why not you tube it and watch it ahead of everyone else, eh? so i did. but they didnt even have the full movie, just bits and parts random losers had posted just to say lamely, "this was my favorite part!" so i gave up. Then i was even more bored, and having brooded on where we left off on it and the hints my friends had given me about the ending, i thought id try to watch it again. So i actually found what (Looked like) the whole thing. But it wasn't. youre not going to believe what i had to put up with to watch it.
1: my brother playing this absurd destroy-and-conquer game too loudly on the ps3 in the background.
2: EXTREMELY lousy graphics that made it so if i tried to make it full screen, all i got were a few tan colored pixels as peoples heads. Not high def.
3: there were chinese characters- CHINESE, of all things, scrolling across the top of the screen and making a huge nuiscance of themselves, then chnese and english on top of it, subtitleing it. lets examine the idiocity of that for a moment. You tube is american. Alamo is an american movie, made right here in hollywood. Alamo is about a part of american history. I can see why thered be spanish subtitling it, cus everybody and thier uncle speaks it, but WHY DO THE BLOODY CHINESE WANT TO WATCH A MOVIE ABOUT SOMEONE ELSES BLOODY HISTORY?????? that is my great complaint, now off my back, sounding like jeremy off of top gear in the meantime. (Shelsey, i think youre the only one who will get that.) this post is already looking ridiculously long winded- oh well. so, i watch it, and get right up to the part where they kill crockett (pretty sad by the way), and im only partway hearing it because of the war cries and mideval fights going on in the background courtesy my brothers game, but what do you know? as soon as we get to the part where that guy played by dennis quaid is gonna fight santa anna, it stops! the zarking (heres something only ally and savannah will get, if they even read this) imbecile didnt even post the rest! UGHGHGHGH, i am so mad! all i wanted to do was rub it in everyone else in my class when i knew the ending and they didnt and look what it got me- a boat load of headache and dissatisfaction. If i was stupid enough to think hed care, id write a very mean comment on that guys youtube page. But i bet you he was chinese and wouldnt be able to read it anyways.

Spring vacation

UGH. It is almost halfway through spring vacation and ive spent most of my time either on the computer or on the couch. And you may say this is a pretty cool setup, but its not, because there's only ever reruns on tv when i sit down to watch. Then, when my brother is NOT aggressively hoarding the computer, pushing me off the chair, or yelling at me to get off because its his turn, i cant even remember what i got on to do, and i am reduced to aimlessly blogging about it. Sound pathetic? yep. Sure does.

Alice in Wonderland

Ok... I get in the car... we drive across town... buy our tickets at the window... hurry inside to try and get a practically (nonexistent) seat... sit down... dim the lights...open up the candy you so didn't buy overpriced at the counter... and the movie starts!
Oh yeah. I love going to the movies, and sunday i went to see Alice in Wonderland!!!! Now, wait a minute, just let me tell you how it was. I would give it a B+ . Heres why i slam it:
1: some of the acting just wasnt up to par.

2: the plot line went (sort of) in weird directions. not that it was confusing or anything, it was just hard to understand at times why people were doing what they were doing.

3: the way alice ended up was so disappointing! she was suposed to stay in Wonderland, not leave and go on some wierd trek to china! oh well... sequel evident? i think not. *tear*

4:whenever i watch a movie, i always am on the look out for the... *cringe*... the LAME parts. these can either be wierd or just plain LAME. for me these ruin an otherwise good movie. I am sad to say that this movie had a few lame parts, sometimes because of bad acting and sometimes because the part just didn't seem believable.

Now heres why i cheer for it:

1: the special effects were so out of this world! most of the scenes in Wonderland were filmed totally on green screen, and almost all the chracters had somethins CGI about their look. (Except for Alice)

2: It was in 3d, which could have gone either way for me, but it turned out really cool in some of the parts.

3: It was just an enjoyable movie to watch! cool costumes, awesome sets, interesting chracters... yep. ill be buying this when it comes out.

all in all, i probably bored you with this extended movie review. (if youre even still reading this)
i know youre probably thinking, "If i wanted a full winded review, i woulda read one on line!" oh well. youve just got one from me!

American Idol

When my family first started watching american idol, it seemed like everyone watched it! now its like no one does. Am I the only one? On second thought, i wouldn't care much if i was, im that type of girl. Anyways, i just felt like saying that i watched it last night and it was my opinion that all of the boys performing SUCKED. I wish theyd have done the girls last night, but they switched because Crystal Bowersox (dreadlocks lady) was really ill. Oh well- girls, you had better do a lot better than the boys because otherwise, i wont vote for you!

All manner of Nonesense

Well, I did indeed finish Pride and Prejudice. (Actually, I finished it months ago, but havent got around to posting about it since.) And guess what. No, actually, dont guess, if you read my blog you already know...I...LOVED IT!! Ive considered seeing the movie but im thinking, dont bother, it'll just be disappointing if they dont live up to the book (which they cant anyways.) So. Since then, i have struggled to find a new book to captivate my interest, which was for a while the Montmorency series by Eleanor Updale, which did capture it nicely. A bit un-advanced, but it made up for its deficiencies in its well- moving action- oriented story line. Sadly, owing to the shortness of the novels and (relative) ease of reading, i finished them shortly, voracious book- pig my mother so often fondly calls me. So i resorted to a series I had promised myself to pick up again so as to refresh myself for the newly released third. This one is The Looking Glass Wars, by Frank Beddor. The first two, The Looking Glass Wars and Seeing Redd, are very good, a modern and updated twist on Alice in Wonderland, which i considered so fitting to read seeing as i hope to see the new movie. The books have all the main characters, though a bit shuffled about, yet they all have unique and highly differing personalisties and none ever seem to be shoved to the fore while others stories are relegated to the back, like i see in so many books. The story line follows them all, with (expected, of course) emphasis on Alyss Heart, the main character, who we see come from flightly seven-year-old into full-fledged 20-year-old Queen by the end of the book. I recommend it sincerely!
Now, wait a moment, i seem to have gotten off topic... what was i talking about at first? Ah, as i scroll up the page, i remember. Pride and Prejudice. Well, as i have no more to say on that subject, and have filled it out with all this Manner of Nonesense, ill be off, shall I?

Alice in Wonderland

Well, it seems I've been blogging alot lately about movies, i feel compelled to keep that trend. (not that anyone notices- i only have 85 profile views!) anyways, my latest must- see is the new Alice in Wonderland directed by Tim Burton. It looks like it will be awesome- i read that the actors filmed alot, and even mostly, on green screen and it has many familiar faces in it, like Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Alan Rickman (Snape from Harry Potter) as one of the Caterpillars, (so far two Potter stars) and then theres Anne Hathaway from The Devil Wears Prada and last, but certainly not least, Johnny Depp of Pirates of the Caribbean. Of course, everyone knows he's a phenom actor, so I think he can make this (quirky- definetely unavoidably quirky, bordering on weird and [possibly] frightening) movie something that will go up for Oscars. (If the oscars are awarded for movies- i get my Grammies and Tonys all mixed up.) Anyways. I'll def. post if i see it, which i plan to, because March 5th (its release date) is the Friday before my Spring Break, so I will make a trip to the theater.

Pride and Prejudice

all the slammin shorties in da house say YEAH!!!
ohk, my random momnent is over, now to business-
i hace almost finished reading the classic Pride and Prejudice, and i must say, i think i like it a bit more than i did sense and sensibility. (or even, for that matter, sense and sensibility and sea monsters.) though as i read i find it has many plot points in common with sense and sensibility. And i must also say, whenever i read those overly-praising forenotes by historians or watever, i dont believe half of waht they say about all the supposed prose and good witty etc. lines allegedly portained in the books. But pride and prejudice.. lived up to it! i must say adieu , though, because i will shortly have to abandon my computer and get back to class.

Nonesense

Okay, okay, its time for me to live up to my blog description... and here goes nothing. literally.
I love Sherlock Holmes. not becasue i like the movie, (which i havent even seen, but am dying to) but becasue i read the books- BOTH 900 page volumes of the complete short stories- and i dont care how much you love the new movie, if you read these books, there is nothing like them in the realm of classics. nothing. ANd i know, because the books inspired me to start reading other classics, so far of which have been:
Dracula
Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility ( if you like the book , see the moie, its phenom.)
Sherlock Holmes
Wuthering Heights (which i havent finished but am working on)

i havent had the guts to tackel a shakespeare yet, but i think ill get there... any ways, i have to sign off now that ive raved about the sherlock hol mes books be sure to expect another post once i see the movie...
